‘The world is more magical,
less predictable,
more autonomous,
less controllable,
more varied,
less simple,
more infinite,
less knowable,
more wonderfully troubling
than we could have imagined being able to tolerate
when we were young.’
(James Hollis, ‘Finding meaning in the second half of life’)

Is it about growing up … ??

Of course. What is that saying that goes on about how you look at things as a child and play with childish things, but when you are an adult you have to put away all those childish things and act as an adult. Growing up? Which is the best situation to be in?

Attempts at explanation can be fun, profound, uplifting, or downright idiotic.
