A friend of mine has drawn my attention to an e-petition by Survival International to help save the way of life of the Awa tribe in the Amazon rain forest, which is being cut down at a frightening rate.

The Yanomami tribe was similarly threatened, but the government was pressed into action to protect their lands, which saved them and their way of life.
If you want to add your name to the petition, and also to read more details, you can find them here:

Actor Colin Firth has got behind this (so he’s not just a pretty face then, girls 😉 )
There seems to be a general feeling in this corner of blogland that we are all connected to each other and to the fragile ecology of our world. This seems a practical way of showing our solidarity.
So sad to see what is happening to the Amazon rain forest – closer to home my husband and I have signed a petition against the rise in Fuel Duty.
