CHRISTIAN HEALING: SOME RESOURCES
Edgar Bell’s ministry was at a time when Christian healing in the church was kept alive in the work of Dorothy Kerin. It is well worth reading her amazing story, for she herself was miraculously healed, and went on to found Burrswood Christian Hospital and place of healing (see below).
The Holy Spirit’s ministry of healing through the churches seems to arrive in waves. The Fountain Trust and the charismatic movement that touched all the churches in the 1970s brought that ministry to the forefront again, followed by John Wimber and ‘power’ healing, then Bishop Morris Maddocks in this country who began the Acorn Trust. Francis McNutt, an ex-Dominican, also wrote and ministered as a member of a healing team.
There has of course been an explosion of all sorts of ministries which include healing, and indeed there is a great deal of interest in ‘spiritualist’ healing and other forms of non-Christian healing. Following my grandfather, I am uneasy about these and so am only including a few resources here with provenance I can trust sufficiently to pass on.
